Flourishing Ideas

Flower care is an essential requirement to make your fresh, hand tied flowers last longer. Flowers are fragrant and beautiful, and can be used on a variety of occassions, but as living organisms, they are finite. By following these simple tips, you can ensure the best freshness and longevity of your flowers.

Guide and Care Tips for Flowers:

  • Clean the Vase: Before arranging your flowers, ensure the vase is thoroughly cleaned to remove any bacteria that could harm the flowers.
  • Use Fresh Water: Fill the vase with fresh, cool water. Change the water every two to three days to keep it fresh and bacteria-free.
  • Trim the Stems: Cut about 1-2 inches off the stems at an angle with sharp scissors or a knife. This increases the surface area for water absorption and prevents the stems from sitting flat on the bottom of the vase.
  • Remove Lower Leaves: Strip any leaves that will be below the waterline in the vase to prevent them from decaying and contaminating the water.
  • Add Flower Food: Use the flower food that often comes with bouquets, or make your own with a mixture of sugar, lemon juice, and a few drops of bleach.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat: Place your flowers in a cool spot away from direct sunlight, heaters, and drafts to prevent them from wilting quickly.
  • Mist the Flowers: Lightly mist the flowers with water to keep them hydrated, especially if they are in a warm environment.
  • Keep Away from Fruits: Avoid placing flowers near ripening fruits, as fruits release ethylene gas which can speed up the wilting process.
  • Re-Cut the Stems: Every few days, re-cut the stems to ensure they can continue absorbing water efficiently.
  • Remove Wilting Flowers: As individual flowers start to wilt, remove them from the arrangement to prevent them from affecting the fresher flowers.
